Dragon Boat Festival 端午节

今天我们学端午节，然后又玩赛龙舟。
Today , we learned how to make paper boat and did a race using paper boat and straw!  All children had so much of fun!

Chinese New Year Celebration and Craft

This is our second time celebrating Chinese New Year in Darwin Hall.  This year, all the mothers bought their homemade Chinese food like Nian Gao, spring roll, steam tapioca cake, dumpling and many more.

介紹中國生肖是把每十二年用動物表示: 

Introducing the 12 animals as signs representing each year of a 12-year-cycle.

1. Rat – 鼠 
2. Ox – 牛 
3. Tiger – 虎 
4. Rabbit – 兔 or 兎 
5. Dragon – 龍 / 龙 
6. Snake – 蛇 
7. Horse – 馬 / 马 
8. Goat (aka Ram) – 羊 
9. Monkey – 猴 
10. Rooster – 雞 / 鸡 
11. Dog – 狗 
12. Pig – 豬 / 猪 

我們從小朋友的年紀知道他們的生肖是什麼:

We worked out every child's animal sign of their birth year:

James 猴 / Alec, Li-Li 雞 / Kieran, Jojo, Lily, Siona, Henry 豬 / Duriel 鼠 / Caitlin 馬 / Jasmine 兔

小朋友可以從玩偶中找到屬於自己生肖的動物。

Chinese animal zodiac song:

小朋友首先都認識了這十二個動物的名字,也都可以正確找出這些動物

The children could all call out the names of those 12 animals and were able to identify them accurately.

配合12生肖歌的歌詞,做動作和取得正確動物玩偶

Along with singing the animal zodiac song, act out and get the correct stuffed animal.

使用圖片字卡,小朋友幫動物玩偶和圖字卡配對起來

Matching the stuffed animals with the picture+word cards.

使用字卡,沒有圖,小朋友來認字

The children were to recognise the chinese characters without pictures.

The Dōngzhì Festival or Winter Solstice Festival is one of the most important festivals celebrated by the Chinese during the Dongzhi solar term (winter solstice) on or around December 22 when sunshine is weakest and daylight shortest. This year, it occurs on 21 December 2012.
